Journal #5

Journal Entry 5:

This is the final required journal post! This week we talked about work, home and computer based interpersonal interactions. We also did a resume' workshop on Thursday to hone in on self-promotion in a professional sense and what employers look for. I asked you on Tuesday to do two exercises in the book: One for Home relationships and one for CMC interactions. Post your findings from each exercise (both from Ch12).

Then, for the rest of your post choose one of those types of interactions: Home, Family or Computer Mediated Communication; and discuss an experience you had that was a positive/beneficial interaction with one of these groups. For example, the story I told in class about the old coin necklace that my Dad got me really was a wonderful experience because he took the time to find something that was valuable and sentimental for me. I remember that birthday like it was yesterday because of this symbolic reminder that I keep around my neck. I also remember that he cooked me scallops, crab cakes and mashed potatoes as well as homemade bread. And then we sipped wine on the back porch facing the creek and enjoyed a fine Dominican cigar until it got dark outside. It was a simple day, but a wonderful one. It helped to reinforce my relationship with my Dad; who I don't see very often.

You may discuss a similar family relationship, a workplace relationship/friendship or even a computer mediated relationship... meaning you met and became romantically involved with someone online, or just keeping up with a friend, family member or lover via the Internet because you are separated by space.

I'll be posting one more journal exercise but this is just a class review. You are not required to do this for points, but it would mean a lot to me to get some feedback on the course! I'll post that this weekend. Best! See you Tuesday for the Team Speeches!
