Journal Entry #2

Journal #2

Culture was at the forefront of the lectures and discussion this week. It influences every decision you make and person that you talk to. Who you are is shaped by your culture.

Take some time to really brainstorm what your culture is! Remember that the text discusses different aspects of culture and that it's not just race or religion.

Describe your culture here. Go into as much detail as you feel comfortable with sharing with me. Then take some time to discuss what the most important part of your culture is.

For example, for me personally my very Irish and Lithuanian heritage is at the core of my being. I am very interested in my ancestry because I am almost completely 50% Irish and 50% Lithuanian (which is rare). My family history of coming to America and building a life here is very intriguing to me, as well as where my roots are across the Atlantic. However, this is only a chunk of my culture. I will post a full response to my own Journal question this week. <3

Prof Tucker

Followers Make Your Page!

It's good to see I have over half the class on here already! Wonderful! Be sure to create your own blog so that I can start following you as well and see your weekly progress. Right now only two of you have created and updated your blogs that I can see!

Also, you are welcome to respond to my posts on here, but be sure to create your own blog page for the assignments so I can keep track! :)

Best,

Journal Entry #1

Chapters 2 and 3 discuss the notion of Interpersonal Communication and Self, as well as Perception. Think back to three major events (or times) in your life that you think contributed to your self-concept and self-esteem. Describe these events in detail and explain why you think they helped to shape part of who you are.

If possible, use some terms and ideas from the chapters that helps to illustrate and explain why these events had such profound effects on you.

Have a great weekend! I've thoroughly enjoyed the first week with you all!
